My pullets and chicks roost on an immature pecan tree and on an old bird cage, both are far away from the coop.
I have worked to get the coop secure, but they won’t stay there at night. Any ideas?

You will need to put them in there every night, and lock them up. It will take a couple of weeks for them to get used to the new routine. Is the coop small? Well ventilated? Sharing some pictures may help.
It is large, well ventilated, I guess I need to persevere with taking them in. There are 14 of them. Thank you for reminding me that chickens are pretty simple.

Young ones like to come up with all kinds of ideas that they think are better than what we want. Sometimes it takes a while to convince them they need to go in the coop. Try feeding some treats in the evening to draw them in. They will get used to a new routine, and be much safer. Takes one predator to notice them in the tree and that's the end of them.

I love this. So true too.
