Roosts and poop boards.

Yep, I use PDZ as well, so I need sides. PDZ helps keep the ammonia smell away and keeps the poop from sticking to the board.

We have a mill so saw dust isn't an issue. In my actual cool I sprinkle some on the nest box , which is under the roost, and it's really easy to clean it out. Small coop, I use my daughters rake. Will go for the same type in my next one (only a few days from moving the hens in it). By reading above I realized the poop catcher has to be much wider then I thought, which makes sens actually. May have to rearrange the coop... Thanks everyone!

I was lay in bed thinking of something I could put under the roost, then I thought, why not some kind of board to catch the poop, yes that's an idea!

I'm glad I did a search first lol, I would have made a fool of myself saying I have a great idea.
Any way I'm glad others have already thought of it, I'm going to make some now I've seen the pics above, thanks guys.:thumbsup

I guess if you don't pick up the poop something like PDZ is needed to avoid the ammonia smell, however, we have never had ammonia smell because we get rid of the poop every day.

It also helps keep the poop from sticking to the vinyl, that I have covering my board. Runny poop is also easier to clean up, PDZ absorbs the moisture. I wouldn't want to clean a runny one off my board, without PDZ.:sick I scoop my board every day also.

Ditto Dat^^^

My poop boards are full of sand .. scooping every morning eliminates any smell and I don’t need anything else to buy (pdz), I have sprinkled DE on a wet spot just to help it dry faster ....

We have a 2x4 edge as our roost attached directly to the poop boards,

Works well since they all face front to sleep and poop on the 24 inch board behind them ...

We all have our own ideas ,
Morning chores take me 10 minutes unless waterer needs cleaning :)
