Newby here! My hubby built an adorable coop but I can't decide on where to put the roosts! 6' x 7' with nesting boxes opposite the main door (he made 3 about 16" x 16" which I'll be modifying to make 12" x 12"). I want stadium roosts but not at the windows (I hate washing windows 😂). Hubby thinks they should be in the middle of the coop 😳, I don't agree 😂. Pics and ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I use an old 1.5 diam. branch from a tree. It is mounted outside the nesting box in front of a large window so they can see outside. The poop tray is under them. This has worked for 3 years now. I made the mistake of their roost above the nesting box and the eggs were full of poop. You might have to help your chickens up on the roost for a few nights, they may not know that they can sit on it.

Need more photos on the interior to make any guesses then :frow
Hi Penny! I blocked off the nesting boxes until they get old enough to start laying 😎. Hubby built a temporary roost today, the chicks are loving it already! I'm thinking of putting a roost 12" from the wall, a foot or so above the nesting boxes. Will that be far enough away to avoid them pooping in the boxes? It's hard to get good pics of the interior 😜. Thank you!
