Roosts...inside coop.....

Im a 2 x 4 rooster myself. I just mount ehm narrow side up and round the foot gripping area with a rasp.
Roosts should be about 18" apart and each bird needs about a foot of roosting "elbow room." If you stack them, again give 18" of headroom.

Don't they end up pooping directly on the ones below if they are straight above each other?

I went out and took a pic of the girls tonight as they settled into their beds. No one poops on the ones below because they have at lest 10 inches between each roost the first one is 18 inches from the wall and all the others are at least 10 inches apart...it seems to be working GREAT for our 25 chickens!

they are about 8 weeks old

I have it bolted to the 4x4's and it swivels up to catch on chains so I can clean under it easier....
