Roosts........round or flat????

I have 6 bantams and 10 LF...what type of roosts should I put in my new coop?

Since i have long brutal winters i prefer 2x4's so the birds can huddle down on their feet. My bantams don't roost here, so they don't have any, they prefer to dogpile.

I have flat 2x4 wide side up. That being said I read that round roost are more natural for birds and employ a natural locking mechanism in their limbs when they sleep and roost. The right answer lies with the chickens and mine are not talking.
