rose bushes

Help my chickens are stripping my rose bushes..Why? and how do i keep them from eating them? they are free range during the day on 5 acres..they have lots of stuff to eat but seem to always attack my potted plants and roses...what to do...what to do?

You either fence in your chickens or fence in your plants and flowers. They'll eat just about any type of vegetation and, like my goats, seem to prefer expensive antique roses over 100 ft of old fenceline covered in the wild roses they're supposed to eat.......
