Morning - reviving an older post here

My chickens also leave the bay leaf tree alone. They love a lot of things, but most herbs they do not. The will nibble on basil occasionaly, but not much.

Anybody have any fatal plants that are common to grow? I am assuming house plants that are bad for dogs & cats are a nono...just curious.

Thanks all - great day to yas

Here's one from the ASPCA , Mrs Smitho. I don't know how fatal any are but they are considered toxic.

That one has a lot of house plants if that is what you are asking for. Here is one from UCDavis on toxic plants. It is directed towards humans but as the author says, "If a plant is known to be hazardous to humans, it will probably be toxic for animals as well." You can also get some idea on the level of toxicity.

Something I like about the UCDavis site is that there's a "Safe Plants" link at the bottom of the page. Plenty of plants we can feel good about

.

No list will be complete and these are mostly plants one might find in a yard. Wild plants like locoweed (Oxytropis) are somewhat missing . But, if you want - I can post some links on those.

I think the birds are smarter than me sometimes...there are just things they woln't touch...

hehehehe, we thought we'd "pre-season" them, and they didn't fall for it
