rotary cutter not cutting.

it still didnt cut perfectly, but i think thats just because im not used to them..but it went through most of the way.
 
Yay! Practice makes perfect!

Be sure not to press too hard.

You will dull your blade fast and tear up your cutting mat. They are not cheap as you know!

Practice with scraps, starting lightly and adding pressure a bit at time until you get "the feel" for how much pressure to use.

A new blade should not need much pressure to cut.
 
It does take some practice but you'll have it mastered in no time. My first ruler is full of knicks and I still manage to take a knick out every once in a while. I used to cut all my pieces with scissors. I'm self taught and it took years before I even knew that the rotary cutter existed. Isn't it AWESOME!! There are so many cool tools to help you sew and quilt. Hope you really enjoy it. Make sure you post a picture of your finished product.

Here's a pic of my little girl in a dress I made her. I mostly quilt and make clothes for her.

I noticed that her sweater is too small and her dress is too big!! Love it!

how cute! i make my daughters dresses too, the last one being the one shes wearing in my avatar.
girls are so fun!
i am self taught also, at sewing..i wanted to learn before i even had a daughter, just in case.
