Heip!!! I have 7 five month old Rhode Island Red hens. (I did have 10). Some are developing black spots on their feet the others peck. The areas get bigger and sorer. Some are losing toes. 2 have died. I haven't had chickens since I was young (long time ago) and am not familiar with chicken dieases. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it???

There is a disease called foot rot. It affects cattle and poultry. I would get them started on terramycin (oxytetracycline) found at most feed stores. Give them 2 Tbsp. per gallon of water for 10 days. I would disinfect their coop with a mild bleach solution and let it totally dry before returning them to it. You will need to soak their feet in a watered down iodine solution until all wounds are healed. Their feet need to stay as clean and dry as possible. I know this sounds like alot but you need to get it under control ASAP. Hope this helps.
