Hi

we have a pair of rouen ducks. sex has not been determined yet but the one in question is believed to be female. She is demonstrating some very aggressive behavior. mainly biting other ducks and chickens in the tail feathers, ripping out those feathers and eating them. any suggestions on why she is demonstrating this behavior and is there anything we can do to stop it?

That is not normal Duck behaviour in either sex.....Are they crowded and what do you feed?....Sounds like they need more protein in the diet..;)....Dry cat food that is fish based works to up the protein in Ducks...Give it as a treat a few times a week till the situation calms down...;)

Cheers!

Overcrowding?: run is 12' X10" coop is 4'X6' (still under construction) shared by 2 Pekin ducks 2 Rouen ducks 13 hens and 1 rooster.

Diet?: for the past few weeks they have been eating 5 grain scratch 9.5% protein with generous extras of fresh vegetables. tomatoes broccoli cabbage and lettuce. currently eating "knockout" protein content unknown.

thanks for the reply and we appreciate your input. we are obviously newbies.
