Rouen Duck thread

Rouens are too heavy to fly. This is my first time having them, but I believe they may be able to fly when under a year old. I read that as anecdote, so not sure how true it is.

so i have a question... I got four Rouen ducklings and im not sure how to tell if they are male or female... any advice?

I thought the same thing last year when mine had rings around their necks... I had one with a definite ring, like yours and she turnout to be a hen :) I called it her necklace!

We have what were sold to us as 6 straight run Rouen, but one is a bit of an oddball. Here are some pictures:

All the other ducklings looked like normal Rouen except for this one which was larger with more yellow and a light beak and feet.

He has a pronounced overbite/downward curved bill as well. His eyes are blue unlike the others, has a white neck ring since he was little, very thin neck and head, has "high cheek bones" that are very noticeable, and has less penciled in feathers. This duck is now much smaller than the others as you can see compared to our female on the right.

Anybody have an idea on the breed? We love our Rouen! They are great ducks but just dying to know what this guy may be mixed with.

My Rouens are my favorites of our six ducks! I love their temperament in comparison to our Khaki Campbells and our Welsh Harliquens. The Rouens act more like pets. It's super cool and exciting to watch my drake getting his boy colors right now!

Hmm...
Interesting looking little guy/girl. My best guess would be a Rouen mixed with a dutch hookbill. Either way, it's a cutie! =)

I am so frustrated! My rouens are 5 weeks old today and just won't give me concrete voice sex clues! Noodles is very chatty. Always peeping but sounds more like Donald Duck than a baby peep. Noodles also occasionally lets out what sounds like a wolf call peep. Pek Pek is much quieter but I have heard "her" let out a random Honk/quack in a peep sequence. If anyone has any advice on the Donald Duck peeping I'd appreciate it. The suspense is killing me!!

Good evening, I am a first time duck owner. We acquired 2 ducklings that looked totally different from each other at first. Now they are both exhibiting the same look and characteristics but, 1 is bigger than the other. I have come to the conclusion that both are boys and the smaller one is Mallard and the other Bigger taller one is Rouen.
I would like to know if keeping 2 boys is ok, we only have 2 other ducks, they are white, Pekin I believe and was told both are going to be boys also but I do not know how to tell. They are just now feathered out for the first time. I am waiting for the little tail curl to show up but unsure when that will happen. If they are infact 2 more boys, will all 4 get along? I do not really wish to have anymore ducks.

Also, thank you all in advance for any insight. Are there anything in specific I should be noted about Rouen is regards to breed?

Going by the photos, I would definitely assume the one on top is a boy, because of that bright yellow bill. I, personally, have never seen a girl with one like that.
