We got 2 Rouen ducklings from TSC. (Im assuming so, we were told they were Mallards, but since have found out that Mallards only have one stripe on their head). One has two distinct stripes, the other has one stripe with what looks like another one below, but the center is missing, leaving a small line at the bill and another towards the back of the head. We got them about 3 weeks ago. One of them is starting some sort of awkward quack sound, where the other one seems to be primarily chirping still. Size-wise they appear to be about the same age. I was wondering, is this some sort of indicator as to what gender they are, or maybe they're just maturing at different rates?
Time will tell I suppose.
