Rouen Ducks and eggs ?

I got a male and female pair of rouen ducks (flightless mallards) that are about 16 to 18 weeks old. When should I expect to start finding eggs ? Anything to do to help them lay inside their coop ? Will they try to hatch them this time of year ? -Thanks

17 weeks is when they should start laying and they will probably let where they sleep

If you can find some fake eggs, craft stores and on line and put them inside their coop that may help along with some nice fluffy bedding. Not all breeds go broody so it's a toss up whether yours will ever go broody. Just have to wait and see.

Thanks, I actually already have a dozen wooden eggs on the way to put in my chicken nest boxes, I'll put a couple in the duck coop and see what happens.

Mine didn't start laying until they were 23 week old
