Rouen help

Hi everyone, my son and I purchased 2 rouens at Easter. Ended up being a female and a male (drake...I think). We live on 20 acres with a pond. They have a barn and coop we would put them in at night but during the day they roamed free. Yesterday our drake eas killed by a hawk we are heart broken. I've been desperately looking for another rouen, with no luck. Can i get a different breed or should I order a baby. Poor Titan is all alone a searching for her best buddy. What do I do? We did constuct a large preditor proof outdoor inclosure. The hawk won't leave.

sorry for the circumstances. Any other mallard derived drake would do if you want fertile eggs. Another duck hen would also do for company if you just want a companion for her.

Welcome to BYC! So sorry to hear the circumstance that led you the forum.

Have you checked your local CraigsList for ducks for sale? They'll normally be in the farm section, but people sometimes put them in general merchandise. I'd just do a search of all of CL. Rouens are one of the most common domestic ducks, so I see a lot of them on our CL. Even if not Rouens, I bet you'd find some kind of domestic ducks listed on there.
