Just curious:
I found a little "first egg" size egg that was really rough on the outside, almost like sand paper. Normal? I've had other eggs that are slightly bumpy but this one seemed almost like it didn't get a "finish/top coat" to it on the way out or something. Could this be a lack of calcium? It felt pretty thin, but wasn't pliable at all.
I think it was a first egg from our buff orp so I don't have a history to base her eggs on..
Thanks!

I have one girl that still lays rough eggs about once a week after six months of laying. They're fine to eat although sometimes they break in the nestbox. Just make sure they have enough oyster shell.
