I have a hen that is laying an egg with a rough shell. You could almost use it as sand paper. That has almost got hurt passing that egg. Any ideas?

That kind of stuff is really normal. You might look through the shell defects section of the Egg Quality Handbook to see which one you are seeing.

It does not hurt the hen to lay it and it does not hurt the quality of what's in the egg. It just makes the egg less attractive so that is a defect for a commercial egg.
