Round 2 - chicken is lethargic and laid rubber egg (HELP!)

Do you provide free choice crushed oyster shell? Sorry if I missed it. I have gotten those soft shelled eggs when I have fed too many treats, ran out of oyster shell, and when they first started to lay eggs.
Hopefully your little lady is remedied quickly. Those soft shelled eggs aren't the easiest things to pass.

Just reading this post. Wondering how she is doing? Sorry I have no experience with this at all, so no wisdom to give on the topic. I would be searching Google for this issue, and hope to find an answer!

I had to put a towel on the cage because she would not stop pacing. She is eating organic layer crumbles, topped with yogurt. I am boiling eggs too, so she will have that in a little while. If you were to see her right now, you would wonder why she is in the house. She looks perfectly normal. It seems that she gets lethargic before she lays the rubber egg, but perks up after. Her crop now looks nice and full.

I wish I could figure out why she is laying these rubber eggs. The fox incident was a week ago - could her system still be thrown off from that? Or will she be an internal layer?

This is our first time with chickens, so I have never dealt with this.

No new info for u . Maybe it just takes a while for her system to recover? I'll say a prayer for u both.

i know this is an old thread, but i have a hen that has been laying normally all summer long but for the past 2 days she has laid a rubber egg. she also seems to be losing weight. i am wondering how your girl is and if you found out anything more about what could have caused it? my ellen gets plenty of calcium via milk kefir, oyster shell and organic layer feed. thoughts?
