Round or square roost?

I was wonderin about the a"Compey Perch" That parrots love to sit on.. I't very softy for their feetsies. But, after a while..Gizmo the Blue & Gold macaw likes trearing the rope outta the perch.. But all in all....that seems kinda fun for him....at least it's keepinGizzy busy.

There are probably as many different opinions about this as there are chicken keepers. A 2X2 with the edges broken was what I was taught to use 60 years ago. This was in a cold climate also. I was always told that wider perches or round ones would be more likely to cause bumblefoot. Probably an old wives tale, but I'm still using 2X2s with the corners broken.

i had read somewhere that in extream cold their feet could get frost bite when you use round roost

I like to slightly round the edges of the 2x4, also. It makes it more comfortable.
