Round vs Flat Roosting Bar Comparison

I did, sort of. The flat roost and round roost were near each other but not at exactly the same height.

Three quarters to seven eighth of the flock chose whichever was higher. This was so when the flat was higher and it was so when the round was higher.

During the day, most of them would sometimes rest on whatever elevated surface was handy, which was sometimes round and sometimes flat. What they could look at seemed to me to be much more important than what kind of surface they were on. They did not put nearly as much importance on height during the day as they clearly did at night.

Edit to add. Sorry, I missed the "picture" part. I took most of my pictures off my phone so getting the pictures of it now would be difficult. Maybe later if that part is really important to you.

My chickens like big natural hardwood branches best. They're wide enough for the chickens to walk on and they can cover their feet on the roost.I have a couple 2 x 4s face up but they aren't as popular

My question(which has yet to be answered) is in regards for putting some type of roosting bar in the run. Coop already has flat 2x4 for roosting. Has hoping to see a pic of a 2x4 and a round bar/branch side by side, same height with chickens on one or the other or both.

What do you want to know about roost bars in the run? What is your concern? I still don't know what your question is. If you want photos do a google search on "Photos of chickens on perches". You can get thousands of photos, many outside of the coop.

I can't figure out what you are after that requires a photo of a flat perch next to a round perch. Install the perches and see what happens. It will be different for every flock.
