We are having the driveway paved next week. They will prep the sides of it with Round-up to kill off the vegetation around the old paving. I have chickens that are allowed to free range sometimes but are mostly kept behind plastic temp fencing near the barn where they live.

Should I not let them free range for a month or so after the paving? I'm worried about the Round up. The chix love to wonder around the paving in the morning when I let them out and eat the worms.

A month delay won't be necessary. I'd just keep them contained for a few days. Whatever residual is going to be there, is going to be there for a long time. RoundUp works quickly, within just a day or two. Once the plants are dead, they birds won't have much to do with them anyhow.
