got an incubator this year to hatch my wife royal palm turkeys. Yesterday was day 28 and the first clutch of 5 all pipped throughout the day. Problem is some have been pipped for 24 hours now with no change.

Temp 100
Humidity. 72%

I really don't want to lose the chicks but they aren't really making any progress. I can't imagine what I've done wrong and i have about 12 more eggs with later hatch dates in different incubators. Should i try and help these? Mainly if i have to help these i need to figure out what's wrong so i can correct it on future hatches.

Any help very much appreciated.

I don't have any experience hatching turkey eggs, as my first attempt is on day 9. I have however been reading quite a bit about it. One thing I read says when you lockdown and bring humidity up to drop temp to 98. 5. It seems there are many opinions on humidity levels after much research I decided days1-25 30-40 % and lock down bout 70%. Ive also heard turkey's aren't as easy as chicken eggs. Good luck! Hope they hatch.

We we're talking about maybe lowering the temp. We had read to do so in some guides we read and others said nothing about it. I'll be off at 2 ill see what they are doing and go from there.

here is a link to the temps and humidity ranges that Porters recommends. Personally i run my humidity at about 52-55% all the time and then bump it up to about 63% for hatching and have had excellent results with my royal Palms. I use these humidity ranges because I am almost always hatching at least one if not two other kinds of eggs at the same time so I have never tried extremely high humidity . With my flock of royal Palms this has worked great with between 80 and 98% hatch rates last year. one thing i would recommend is getting a second (or third) thermometer and hydrometer for every incubator you have. Some are incredibly inaccurate so it can help to have a few so you can figure out if one is way off (most of the time unfortunately there is a little bit of inconsistency between different instruments and you will have to just decide what temperature you think is correct and see what happens).

Yea we saved 4 out of 5. Had to help them hatch though. Our next clutch we're gonna try living the temp to 98 and only bumping the humidity to about 60. Also going to stop into the local cigar shop and get a good hydrometer and calibrating it to make sure we arent making spot on the humidity. Thanks for all the help people. Hoping the next clutch will go smoother.
