I am new to turkeys.. Just got my first poults in June, and can't even imagine life without them. They add so much character to the backyard, and make me laugh on a daily basis.. Whether they are chasing my car, escorting me to and from the barn, or harassing my roosters.. They are beautiful creatures for sure.

Here, I'll start off with my own pictures. Please share your own.

How well do your birds fly? Are they friendly? What are they like? :)

Love your pictures of your Royal Palms! I got mine in May 2012. I love them! They are smart and so friendly. I ended up with 1 hen and 4 toms. Sweet Pea is the hen and I hope she will hatch her own babies next year. I will have to dispatch with 2 or 3 of the toms as they have been fighting lately. I have a saddle for Sweet Pea and intend on putting it on her early spring. I guess if you don't they can get damaged by the spurs of the tom while mating. I found they love green beans, cherry tomatoes, and oats! I had to really cut their wing feathers as they are great fliers! Yours are so pretty with all there wing feathers!

They are beautiful Debby!

And thank you for the compliments :D

I let my birds roost wherever they want, and sometimes that is on the barn roof, but lately they've chosen to stay in the barn at night. I like how they fly, but I'm not worried about containing them :)

They are quite the characters, that's for sure. I find them very similar in many ways to my wild turkeys. They have similar body features, and fly just as well. :love

Here are some older pictures of my Royal palms. They have their own pen now. I only have a pair right now. I need to get some more of Mannie and Spider.

Mannie up in a tree!

:thumbsup

My tom has been sleeping in a tree a few nights a week. He was there last night, along with one of his girls (he has two eastern wild girls and one RP girl). I am planning to get him another RP girl come spring from the same people I bought them from. :D

Your birds are very pretty!
