This spring I discovered my Royal Palm Tom (beautiful fella )had gotten too big to service his girls. They both laid a clutch of infertile eggs. I'd found a peacock egg that had been laid like the peahen just dropped it and moved on.I put it under the broody turkey hen. She hatched it and was being a very good Mother but I was afraid it would drown in the water trough soooo I traded a banty chick that had just hatched in the incubator for the peafowl chick. Iwas raising the the peachick with the baby chickens and Mama turkey and her itty chick were doing great by the was I had put a chicken waterer where the little guy could get a drink.here's the rest of the story. Some two-legged varmit stole my peachick one day when I was in town.

A Royal Palm got too big to service his girls? I have never heard of that... how old is he? And what are you feeding them?

I am sorry about the peachick... those two legged varmints are the worst, and it's illegal to trap them.

I hate those 2 legged varmits. I caught the one from next door, Mr. I live on a dirt road in the desert and can't stand dust so you should drive 2mph down the road, lifting my eggs. I thought my poor girls were ready for the freezer.

I worded that wrong he was doing his thing apparently not making contact when candled the eggs had nothing in them.

Well let me jump in here on this conversation, buy you a web cam, hook to your computer you are chatting on BYC with, get you a extended cord if needed, get you a suction cup, put the cam in your window facing where the thief is comming too, and catch that 2 legged thief, that is how I caught my chicken steeling no good dirty neighbor, and they knew if I have it and you need it, I will give it to you, but under no, and I mean NO, circumstance does a person come on my property and take from me, by god, I am old school, I will tar and feather you, so be the laws.

The same thing happened to me. I had 2 pea chicks about 5 months old and they came up missing one day. The funny thing is they were inside of a block house so there is no way something could have come in to eat them. What happened to the neighbor that stole your birds? What did the police do about it?

I doubt that the police will do anything. I had a gal I worked for back in 94 try to buy my dog and horse. I had witnesses tell the police that they saw her go into my house while I wasn't home and come out with my dog and put him in her truck. The officer didn't want to make a report and when I complained to the Chief he told me to be happy that she didn't show up with a horse trailer.
