RSL/Golden Comet lethargic, not eating/drinking or laying eggs

My Golden Comet started acting lethargic a day ago, but it really worried me this morning when she didn't race out of the coop with the others. after a bit I picked her up, she did not struggle at all. I tried to get her to eat and drink but nothing really worked, I got maybe a single mealworm in her. She hasn't been laying eggs for a couple of days either. She is now around 11 months and the sweetest little curious thing. Does anyone know what this might be? I'm hoping its just a little cold.

Isolate her and monitor her symptoms / poop. Check her crop, check her vent for a stuck egg, give her a measured amount of water and see how much she drinks. Same with food. RSLs are hybrids, meant to lay a copious amount of eggs in their lifetime which unfortunately can lead to reproductive disorders. Also give her a good look over for external parasites, and you may want to do a fecal float test to check for internal parasites.

I already checked her over for any mites/lice etc and felt around her abdomen and crop- both seem flat and normal. I'll isolate her today though to monitor her better. I'll check her vent for a stuck egg though, thank you. All of my other girls seem to be doing fine.

checked on her again- she pooped if you can even call it a poop though. it was just a little puddle of clear liquid with some white and yellow. i also checked her vent again, doesn't have an egg blockage- her comb is starting to turn purple. not looking good. She hasn't eaten or drank at all

What could this be? is she going to make it? she's one of my favorite hens and I don't wanna lose her.

Any chance she is egg bound? When my Golden Comet got egg bound she was a bit puffed up and her wings hung down a little. I gave her a nice Epsom salt soak, got her dry and she perked up, pooped, and the next day she laid an egg.

I'm not sure this is your problem, but maybe this will help bump it to someone else's attention.

No, I've checked her vent twice now. each time going 2-ish inches in, and her abdomen seems fine. i might still try the bath though if I don't come to a conclusion

I think I'm going to try to give her a bath just in case, and probably syringe-feed her some mash because she hasn't eaten at all. she showed a little interest this morning but still didn't eat.

Just throwing this out there - chickens don't get colds. they get respiratory infections.

I would make sure to keep watching her poop for blood spots and do a preventative Corrid treatment on all of your girls for Coccidiosis. I only recommend this because my girl started to act much like yours a couple of days before she started having blood spots in her poo. I really hope your bird gets better!

if only she would properly poop- she's been pooping nothing but liquidy whiteish puddles with bits of yellow sometimes. all my other girls seem to be doing okay though
