I have 6 - 3 day olds in a brooder tub and they are getting bored. I did a search for chick toys and came up empty. Do you all have any suggestions as to what I can do to help my little fuzzybutts entertain themselves ? Thanks

Go to the bait shop and buy a container of worms/crickets. All the entertainment you'll need

My chicks are on pine shavings and they have all sorts of fun scratching around in the shavings. I've read on here where people give them something to take a dust bath in and they go crazy. I don't remember what they used though.

Put them on pine shavings. Put a box of dirt in there. Make a little perch.

My babies at 3 days old mostly slept... And then they woke up after a few days and scratch in the shavings and dirt all day, hunting and pecking for bits of food. They give themselves dust baths. Mine are very busy.

Also, I put mine outside in a pen almost all day when possible and they eat the grass, bugs, etc.

if you have a little mirror, or an old compact (makeup) stick the mirror in their. They'll love that. You can also put something like a piece of wood, or rock for them to climb on. Bells keep them busy too.

I put a rock in with my original batch of chicks. They all freaked out! Ran to the end of the brooder. But then they eyeballed it, and walked sideways away from. They figured out it wouldnt hurt them and they still sit on top of it.

Then I put a large stick for their roost. Same ordeal. I had much fun watching them run away from it.

I thought about hanging large wood beads from the wire over top the brooder. That might entertain them for a few minutes anyways.

As they got a little older, I started feeding them treats...like small pieces of bread, broken crackers, cereal....they LOVE that! And now that they are older (5-6 wks), they come running to the side of their daytime outside area, or brooder when I walk up. Always think I have some tasty morsel for them.

The chickens in our backyard is so spoiled rotten, that I can't take anything for myself to eat out their... Me and my little boy were working out in the yard, and took a break to eat a banana.... I felt like Mick Jaggar in a crowd of hippies! I ended up having to share it with them.

Ours too! They got hot dog bun and some chicken...I told my son that was just wrong! Feeding chicken to the chickens!

Mine tend to play with each other - peck, goose, pounce, you name it. They have a few cat toys to peck at. Mealwoms cause quite the frenzy too!

Given the age of yours I don't think they are bored, just young. Infants of any species sleep and nap a lot.

I have to piggy back on an earlier post - - - our backyard chicks are so spoiled that I was outside today throwing fetilizer on a garden near their coop. They were all watching me - - eyeballing what I was doing - - hoping I was going to let them out - - - so they could eat some of that FANCY SEED ( Fertilizer ) that I was throwing out on the ground

For toys for chicks - - We gave ours a roost - but not at 3 days. They did play with the mulch from the very beginning. I have heard putting a small tray of dirt in there for them.
