My 16 month old hen has not laid an egg in 2 days (which hasn’t happened since I’ve been tracking for 3 months) and this morning I found a yolkless rubber egg on the dropping board under her roosting spot (I think!). It’s been very hot, and she seems otherwise healthy-she is free ranging with the others, was taking a dust bath this morning, eating & drinking, poop is normal (for her; she’s had loose stools since day one)-so I’m leaning towards heat stress, but need reassurance! Also, she’s on layer crumble with oyster shell free choice and was wormed about 3 weeks ago. I’ll continue to monitor, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The heat can do strange things to them , I wouldn’t worry if they have fresh water all day and the foods you mentioned ,they are not machines and have an oppps every now and then.

Good luck , put the books away just enjoy them

Yeah the heat does weird things. The heat makes chickens uncomfortable. From what you said though she doesn't seem to have signs of heat stress

I I agree with snow5164. Heat is not good for the ladies and the rubber egg situation will happen sometimes. I have found the same thing on the poop board. My girls are fine and I support them with plenty of fresh water and food along with kind words
