One of my pullets laid a normal egg this morning in one of the nesting boxes ... I went out there to check on them about 15 minutes ago and one of them laid an egg in the run but when I went to pick the egg up and it was rubbery ... no hard shell ... why is this ? HELP !! New to chickens and I'm a little concerned :(

One of my hens laid an egg like that before. And its its nothing to worry about because she was fine after. Have been giving your hens oyster shell? I think that may have caused that. Good luck with your chickens !

There was another rubbery egg (on the ramp coming out of the coop this time) this morning ... my pullets are 21 weeks & 19 weeks ... my 21 week old laid her first egg on 7/3/13 & my 19 week old laid her first egg on 7/5/13 ... up until yesterday all the eggs have been normal ... THey have access to food (Layer pellets), water, grit & oyster shells 24 hrs a day ... Could this have been caused my the heat/humidity we have been having? (I have been putting frozen jugs of water in there run to help keep them cool & I have wet down the dirt in the run as well) ... Is this normal because they are new to laying? Am I over-reacting? How long does this go on? I am doing everything right, correctc? At what point should I start to worry? I probably sound crazy ... LOL ... but my hubby & I have become pretty attached to these 2 ... I appreciate all the help/info !

It shouldn't go on long. It's because they are new to laying. When the egg was being made it just skipped the shell making stage. Don't worry your hens will be fine

DarthLayer ... thank you so much for your patience & advice ... you have no idea how much I appreciate it !!!
