I was given 6 laying hens a month ago from a neighbor. Out of that bunch are 2 EE. She said they are about 1.5 yrs old. One of them has been laying thinner shelled eggs for the past 3wks and now has gotten to the point that they are rubber. The last 2 days I have found broken rubbery shells in the boxes.

I feed layena pellets with omega 3 and an unlimited supply of oyster shells. Ive even sprinkled the oyster shells in with their pellets. What am I doing wrong with her? How can I help her? None of the others are having any egg issues.

Consider providing vitamin D which helps with calcium absorption in order to produce hard shells.
Thank you. I actually found the hen that was laying the soft shelled eggs and now she has a severe prolapse vent.
