Rubbing their faces on the ground?

I gave my little chicks some hard boiled egg as a treat for the first time today. After eating a bit, every one of them started rubbing their faces on the bottom of their brooder. Sort of thrashing their heads side to side. As a first time chicken mommy, I have no clue what they're doing....

chickens do that to clean their beaks, or if they dont like the food

They were cleaning their little beaks. They do that a lot with any food that is not hard and dry.

Mine do the same thing, I think it's funny that they're so concerned with keeping their beaks clean but could care less about anything else...still can't get over how messy they can be. Mine are only 3 weeks old and I'm sure will get even messier as time goes on!
