I am so sorry to hear about McGee!
I do think heat may have played a role in Ruby's deat; although it was below 30c here on that day, we were in the middle of a week of generally hot days.
Since Ruby passed on Saturday there have not been any more shell less eggs in the coop or run, which leads me to believe that egg peritonitis / reproductive issues may have been the main cause of death. Very sad, but at least not contagious......
