Ruby - possible unwell. Again.

Pics
So Ruby ended up going back into lay about a week or ten days later. She laid around eight eggs, I think. But she swelled fight up, stopped laying and now she’s in trouble again. Poor girl. I’ll take to her back to the avian vet again assuming I can get her in this week. We may try another go at hormones or I’m considering euthanasia. Why do the ones with the best personalities have to have the worst genetics? Anyway, I’m guessing cystic right oviduct since she only has trouble when in lay, and the fluid is compartmentalized per avian vet who tempted to drain her on two separate occasions and was unable to do so.

I hope everyone else snd their flocks are doing well.
So sorry @micstrachan :hugs .

It does always seem to be the ones with the friendliest personality. 🥺 It makes me worried about liking any of them too much.

I hope the vet can do something for her. :hugs:hugs

I decided to give Ruby one last try. We’re gonna do a hormone implant and antibiotics. But this will be the last time if it returns quickly. The Avian Vet indicated that spring has a very potent affect on chicken hormones and that could be why this one wore off in the timeframe it did. Last year, she got an implant in April which took her all the way to February.
