rude neighbors

Neighbors are great, if you get the right people. Thank god my parents have had the same ones for some thirty years. I’ve know them all since I was born. M/D’s next door neighbors son has been my best friend for some 33 years. Nothing is secret around there. Everybody knows and tolerates everybody else which I really think is key. I really think tolerance is a big part of being as good neighbor as you can. You’ll catch a lot more flies with honey than with vinegar.

So they're having a loud party. Do you have to address the nation or something tomorrow? No, turn up the radio and fan and get over it. Good people know when they’re being treated with respect and leniency. 99.9% of the time they will do the same right back to you.

Though there are those long shots like it sounds as if you’re dealing with. “of course you realize, this means war!” Bugs Bunny. Below is a list of possible “exercises” if things go to the next level…

Write something in roundup weed killer on their lawn.
Snakes in the mailbox
Deer head in the mailbox(no I’ve never done any of these…)
Go to the pet store, by a couple dozen mice(50cents each) and let them go through and open window
Go buy some of that pre-sliced bologna. Take the pieces and lay them on their car. It eats the clear coat…
I’ve got more, but they aren’t suitable for here…

Yes tolerance as neighbors is a big part of it. We have 3 neighbores, 1 older couple, 1 older widow, and a 40 something year old dad who is either divorcing or seperated. The older generation love our harbored chickens....not allowed yet in town. The other neighbore hasn't said anything but doens't seem to mind. He however has a year old yellow lab that is always in my yard eating compost, harassing the chickens, trampling my garden and is pooping in my yard. I don't complain yet because I don't want him to retaliate and have my chickens removed. He yells at his kids, his kids yell at the dog and the dog barks at all hours of the day and night. He purposly throws the dog toy in our yard too. I had to ask his kids to play catch in thier yard because they were standing more than half way across my front yard with no respect for property lines. We just moved in 3 months ago and hardly know the kids to allow them to use my yard freely. If people don't have respect for your property then what says when they throw a ball through my 120 year old glass windows that they will pay for it? So for now I wave, smile and say "hello" so not to rock the boat....but when chickens are legalized in Jefferson...He's getting a piece of my mind!

thats soooo correct...even if you are new neighbor..or the old neighbor..we should always be respectful of our neighbors..and..in my situation..my kids KNEW to stay off their property.....but a wiffle(sp?) ball rolled across the street into the idiot neighbors yard(they were playing with the other neighbors kids across the street)...and just because they were upset with ME over propery line issues...they decided to start to harass the children...and BTW...my kids know not to play with baseballs and other hard balls..around our yards...because i too would flip out if a ball broke my window or hit my car...so i understand that...totally..Wendy

Where I live I was isolated , then the guy who owned acreage next to me subdivided it and sold it all.
So I ended up with neighbors right up to my fence.
We live on the river and city people seem to love this and paid big$$$$$$ to live on it.
They are not too much to deal with I just had to adjust, but then my neighbors never gave me reason to dislike them being here I was lucky in that aspect.
I did just put up my coop next to the fence line:lol: , not to be mean but to give my chickens shelter from the harsh winters.
So far no complaints
