Run away chic

I left my ladies out in their run while my husband & i ran a few arrends this afternoon. When we got back i went to check on them & only two out of 6 were in the coop! Not realizing they are still to small & can slip through the fencing. So i found three.. leaving 1 out someone alone in the woods to roam. We searched for over an hour for her. Makes me sad. Im hoping she finds her way home! Has anyone had one ever return?

Welcome to BYC...sorry you're having troubles.

I have read of many returning....and many that have not.
The younger they are the more chance they will be taken by a predator.
Only time will tell....meanwhile, fix that fencing.

My pullets were scattered when something knocked their temp run down. They all made their way back except 1. She was gone for 4 days. I found her on day 2 living in some woods, but she wouldn't come to me and the brush was insane to try to get thru. I had to get a group of people together and we went in after her. It was tough but we caught her on day 4. She couldn't get back to the coop because she was across a busy highway. Good luck.

Not yet.. i plan on combing the woods again today after work.

bring some feed if they are used to the sound it might help.
My hens know when I tap the glass that I haev FF feed
