Run & Coop along (a sequel to my other thread)

@The WinterWolf is that pen/run predator proofed at all?

if it’s not, you might as well take it down. maybe you can use some of the wood to build your new coop.
it is. it has thick wire on the bottom that's 3-4 feet high and then chicken wire. we don't get predators often, either

instead of building a hoop coop, maybe you can check craigslist/fb marketplace for sheds or playhouses. maybe you can find a good deal.

customizing them is very easy with extremely basic building skills

i have a playhouse for summer where i can take naps and read books, but mom is not in favor of converting that. i will search craigslist and "report back here"

about 6 feet wide...and using pallets for wood
Lumber comes in standard dimensions that are multiples of 4 -- usually in lengths of 8 or 12 feet. 8x8 would be easier to build because you would not have to haul and then cut 12-foot boards. :)

Definitely choose dimensions that work nicely with the materials you have, whether that is pallets or purchased lumber, or a combination of both.

Do make sure it is big enough.
For 13 chickens, that would be at least 52 square feet.

If you want it 6 feet wide, you could make it 9 feet long and have 54 square feet, which should work fine-- although it might be just as easy to make it a few feet bigger in one direction or another, and save time on cutting materials. Of course the chickens do not mind having more space!
