I would like some ideas on run coverings on top of chain link panels. I have a 10x10x6 and a 10x20x5 cages.
I looked at the dog type covers and they looked flimsy and not long lasting. I want to keep my D'uccles feet dry.
They are the old style 1970's, 1980's heavy duty panels so they could probably stand some weight.

I have some 8ft sections of steel panels from a neighbor's building destroyed by wind although most pieces look really good.
(I could try something else though-just mentioned because I have them and haven't came up with a use).

I used chainlink over my run. Just attached another panel. My run is only 6 x 6 so not so much space. then topped it with plastic panels.

If you've got the money and/or the extra panels, do like imp suggested. We used 2x4 welded wire for our runs and then dog panels over the coops. They can hold an amazing amount of weight if you live where there will be snow.

I see now where you are from LOL!!! We used the one dog panel to cover the coop area and then used green fiberglass panels on the top of it for roofing. They are the clear green ones that let in light but aren't clear. Works great.

I don't know what your climate is like, but here in Central Texas, I would not put a clear plastic panel in as a roof panel because it would probably turn the coop into an oven on hot days. What I hope to do and what a rabbit breeder did on her rabbit building that I really liked was use white fiberglass panels. They let in nicely diffused light but yet reflect a surprising amount of heat.

Just an idea.

I think this would be considered chain-link:

Having the cover on it = HUGE peace of mind! We have a lot of hawks not to mention other critters, and it's just so great to know our girls are 100% safe in their pen. We also had hardware cloth put a foot below the dirt. No signs of any attempted break-ins whatsoever. So far...

Thanks bawkbawkbawk. I was looking for something to keep most of the overhead rain out too.
I don't like the D'uccles with wet feet at all. I let them free range (supervised) only when it is dry outside.
(They have outgrown their current cage).

babalubird- It would probably be ok because during the summer their area will be behind some very old
25ft fig trees/bushes. They would only get direct overhead sun around 5-7 pm or so. White panels would be
fine too if they are available here. I'll look.

Thinking of making it somewhat modular too in case I ever decide to move it.
Kinda like a panel on it's own that bolts on or something.

Build wooden rafters to hold the steel panels you have, or buy longer panels to cover the whole area.

Notch them to fit over the pen rails, and bolt through them to attach.
You could probably get by with just one on each end and one in the middle

Be careful with the plastic panels. Mine have only been on my coop for 2 years and shattered Saturday under the weight of some snow. They've had more snow than this on them before and been fine. I think the sun did them in
