Run Covering - Tell Me If I'm Stupid lol

I was going to use 45 degree couplers to make peaks, and then down to the ground and attach to the kennel panels.

What size pvc? I used a 1-1/4 for the run. My original thought was to do the same, but due to the width, it wasn't stable using the 1-1/4(would have needed lots of support). Then I thought, going to a smaller pvc, but I'm not sure that would be strong enough. I did leave the tops open, so I can add. They are about 5 ft apart and then I would have to go 8 ft n from each directions(that is where I lose stability)

Update: Had serious rain followed by 6" of snow, canopy collapsed. Learn from my fail, lol. It was only $20 secondhand, so I figured I'd try. Oh well. Next spring I'll build something proper.

Yeah, a huge tree branch got mjne. I was doing ok with the snow and removing it, but the branch I couldn't predict, nor did I expect this kind of Storm this early in the season.

It's so sad looking now, totally demolished. Won't be able to even get it out of there until it melts Thursday. I'm either gonna get a couple cattle/hog panels if/when my friend ever decides to drag her trailer to town or just build a frame and tin it, in the spring. Ah well, it was worth a shot.

Wow. Looking at those pictures of damage I am glad I finally got a metal roof on top of my run a few weeks ago. Nephew is living here for a bit and I figured he could do some building for his room and board. For the past 4 years i have used a tarp with large buckets laying sideways down the middle to help the rain drain. It never worked well. The snow collapsed the buckets. The tarp rubbing on the coop caused holes and leaks. This year the chickens will finally be completely dry.
