My hubby is going to be building me another coop so I can expand my number of chickens. I'm looking for suggestions (as cheaply as possible) on ways to keep the chickens inside the run, as we cannot free range due to a pain in the butt dog. We were hoping to have them in with our baby goats, but in afraid they will fly out, and I want to have easy access in and out of the run.

Here is my Pheasant run. It is 12x12x8 feet high. I built it for about $300. Here is a quick draw up.

Cattle panel hoop! Easily expandable. Inexpensive. Easy enough for two old people with disabilities to put up by themselves in a weekend. Covered. Tall enough to walk and work in. This was ours in summer:

And in winter:

More information if you click on "My Coop" under my avatar and go down past the coop build to the run process.

I’m thinking if something like this when I redo my run.

If you build it with panels like this, you might want to modify the door to be able to fit a wheelbarrow through it. I would also make it tall enough to walk in, I like to get in with my girls.

Thats how I am. I want to be in there. And be able to stand up. Makes it easier to clean also.

Yup. I don't need my opening super big. My chicken run is all 6 foot high panels. I'll post some more pictures and links of how I did the netting and fence. Also there is a 2' buried wire around the entire perimeter. The wire is stapled right to the pen so the and pull it back or dig under.

My chicken pen is 15 high with an entire tree in side. Lol
