How often if at all do you clean your run? During the winter we cleaned the coop and placed the shavings in the run. There’s lots of old straw, mulch, shavings, and grass clippings in there. Deep litter method. Do you ever remove it all and start fresh? TIA

Clean the run? Never. I do occasionally shovel out some of it to put in the gardens. What goes into the run for bedding? non-treated grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, wood chips, pine shavings from fall coop clean out, kitchen scraps and of course chicken poop.

Might depend on how big the run is and how many birds you have.
I never clean mine out, but add coop shavings/dust slowly as I've had trouble with that before.
My runs have semi-deep litter(cold composting), never clean anything out, just add smaller dry materials on occasion, add larger wood chippings as needed.
Aged ramial wood chippings are best IMO.
