Run question

My coop and run already has a chain link fence on two sides of it. If I use chicken wire and frame the remaining side and top do I "need" access to get INTO the run for any reason (cleaning,etc.)? I do not plan to let them out in our yard.

I'd say needs a door of some sort, what if one of your chickens (god forbid) due to illness collapsed direct center of the run... How would you get to her?

Yes, you will *need* to get into the run - to pick up a dead chicken or deal with a sick one, to collect an egg that got dropped in the run, any number of reasons. You will also want to clean it from time to time as the chicken poop just keeps building up.

Oh, and remember that chicken wire keeps chickens in but won't keep predators out ...

Some heavy breed chickens will also break through the light garbage they call chicken wire these days. Best to use hardware cloth.
