I suppose that a level run is ideal. I would like to put our coop closer to the house than the barn, for safety and because I will enjoy my birds more if they are closer to the house and garden. We live in a canyon with a creek on one side and cliffs on the others. i can dig a level pad for the coop, but dont want to do it the size of the run if i don't have to. I'm wondering if the run has to be completely level or is it alright to have their run on a hill? Will a hill affect their quality of life? I have 8 pullets. Their coop will be 4 x 8 and the run 12 x8, plus the area under the coop.

I don't think they'd even notice unless your talking a side of steep hill. If your coop is going to be elevated then you don't even need to level under it. Cut the stilts to make the difference and level the coop.
