Girvan howled loud and long to call any packmates that were nearby to come over to share the elk. He settled down to eat but waited until Garnett took the first bite.
 
Aella strutted towards a rabbit. She crouched and stalked towards it. Aella leaped in the air and swiped the bunny up into the air and she sank her teeth into its neck, killing it. Aella swished her tail in delight, and strutted back to camp, her eyes gleaming with pride.
 
Girvan nodded and tucked in...he hadn't eaten anything all morning. He had been busy watching the pups. He tried to think of something to say to break the silence, but he didn't want to hurt her feelings or anything. "So..." he finally said, his mouth full. "Are you okay?"

(Wish could have heard the howl)

Aella came back and dropped the rabbit at Jisruns paws .
 
Wish stumbled over her downy paws. She sniffed the air for prey. Mother had taught her how to hunt a bit. She was hungry. She was hungry a lot lately, since Mother died. She could smell wolves. A pack. Mother had told her about packs. She had told Wish that she didn't know how they all got along. Wish sniffed again. Shrew? Shrew! She dropped down into a crouch and began to stalk the rodent. She pounced. And missed. With a growl of frustration, Wish kept moving.

She didn't have a plan. She wasn't old enough to form one. She didn't realize what her chances of survival were. Then she heard the howl. That must have come from the pack. Curiosity sparked inside her. She followed the noise.
