Phoenix padded from the den slowly. He appeared to be in a little pain, the way he dragged a back leg. But the reason for his odd gait, was Russet; the little, adventurous pup had sunk his tiny fangs into his father's thick winter fur and was happily being drug around the densite.

Kado, taking the hint that he wasnt wanted there, ran off in the opposite direction. He saw a butterfly and chased it off into the forest, not even paying attention to how far away from his parents he was going. He jumped and snagged the butterfly out of the air. He smooshed it in-between his front paws and started smelling it. He enhaled some wing dust and sneezed.

No longer liking his newfound toy, he jumped up and was going to go back and play with his sisters. But he could no longer see them. He panicked and started yipping and howling to call for his mother and father.

Phoenix bent down to tug Russet from his fur, then picked up Kado's howls with his sharp hearing. "Kado?" He barked, bolting toward his son's voice. Russet let out a shriek as he was sent rolling backwards.

Faedon lifted her ears at her son's howl. Worry for her pup tingled in her paws, and her motherly instincts took over. She surged to her paws and raced into the forest, barking "Kado! Poppy! Maple!"

Kado continued to howl. He didn't know where he was, and the unfamiliar noises around him frightened him.

Poppy heard her mothers voice and trotted triumphantly towards her voice, a soggy half-eaten beetle still hanging from her jaws.
