The next morning, Scar came to the mouth of Piper's den. "Wake up sleepy! Time to go hunting."
Piper woke and came out of her den groggily. "It's too early, Marble...the sun isn't even up yet. Go back to sleep."
Scar got behind her and pushed her towards the territory. "I'm not Marble...I'm Scar. Come on...the prey is best caught early in the morning. Besides, you could use a little exercise! You didn't look very good last night."
Piper followed him submissively and tried to keep her mind on the hunt. She heard a rabbit in the bushes to her left and pounced killing the little thing on impact. She picked it up in her jaws and looked expectantly to Scar. He just shrugged as if to say, eh...pretty good. But it's just a rabbit.
Scar stalked a small dear and lept out at it, his jaws snapping down hard at it's neck. The thing tried to run but Scar viciously shook his head, snapping it's neck. Panting he turned to Piper and said, "Not bad sister. But you always want to go for the bigger prey. We do have a pack to feed you know." He picked up the deer in his mouth, the legs trailing on the ground beside him as his made his way back to camp. The sun was up now and the camp was waking up. Scar waltzed in triumphantly and Piper followed rather sheepishly with her scrawny rabbit. As her brother went to place his kill on the fresh kill pile, basking in the admiring glances sent his way, she went back out into the territory and sat down under a tree to eat her rabbit.
With a sigh, she ate by herself.
