Pitch's tail wagged as he took another bite. He swallowed before asking "Why did Duke leave you here?"

"He didn't leave me here." She replied. "He wanted to go try to take down another elk. I'm not good at hunting big prey items. I just slow him down. So I told him he could just go without me." She looked away, embarrassed. She didn't like talking about her poor hunting skills.

Misa ran for the river, where she always went when she was feeling down. "Kaito, come back, please!" She shouted, tears streaming down her face. "Kaito, I need you!" She fell to the ground. Misa's scared face was a mess. She didn't know what to do. Would she have to raise these wolves on her own like Kaito did with her?! She couldn't, she was not even close to taking over a job like this. "Kaito, help me, please..." She mumbled.

Pitch lowered his head, then looked at her again "There's nothing wrong about only hunting small prey, there's less waste that way." He looked away, towards the woods again "I have survived by only hunting small prey since my parents died."
