Sierra burst down with a surge speed, racing behind.

"No!" Mari said firmly. 

Onyx staggered back, but his front leg gave out.  He tumbled to the ground, his lip curled in pain.

Jasper watched his best friend fall, and froze.  He fell to his side as Aki hit him, then scrambled to get to his feet.

West jumped as he reached the base of the hill, then wove his way between the trees.

Aki towered over Jasper, snarling, foaming at the mouth. "Submit or leave!" He snarled.
Lupus stood beside Jasper, keeping his head lower than Aki's, but still threatening. A low growl, rumbling from his chest.

Sierra followed, scenting the air.

Jasper tucked his tail. "I'm leaving." He choked out. He couldn't stay. He hurt his best friend, and now no one would forgive him.

Onyx looked up. "No, please Jasper..." His voice trailed off. Jasper scrambled to his feet, looked at the wolves surrounding him, then darted to the camp entrance.
 
"Zero abandoned the pack for a lone wolf... She, her pups, and her mate accidentally ran into camp the other day... and my mother killed her and her pups." Lightning bowed her head. "I mean, I know Zero's case was different, but I'm still scared of her. She'll kill any pup she sees; she rejected her pups last week. They're just wondering around now."

"Are you saying you want to leave?" Elan asked gently, his voice understanding.

West halted behind a tree, in the clearing ahead, were spruce hen. He smiled. "They aren't much meat but they are fun to hunt. Want to try?"


Aki stepped in front of Onyx. "Let him go." He looked at Lupus and nodded. Lupus nodded back, a deep snarl rumbling his body and he charged at Jasper, to run him off. With 7 pups, Aki couldn't afford to be forgiving. He turned his attention to the wounded Onyx.

Jasper scrambled to his feet, bolting out of camp, and deep into the territory. He looked behind him, at Lupus. He stopped, "Please Lupus, I didn't mean to!" He whimpered, his ears drooped.

Onyx dragged himself to his feet, the tendon in his shoulder sliced. "I-" He winced. "I'm fine."
Mari hurried to her pup. "No your not, come'on." She nudged him gently to a spare den.
 
Lightning gave a reluctant, barely discernible nod. "But... where will we go? Not only that... I can't take you away from your family."

West crouched down in the shrubs, "The key is to run out as fast as you can, then you have to jump to snatch them out of the air." He smiled.

Lupus stopped, slamming his front paws down on the ground. "I know, but you have to leave, wait awhile, and if you want to come back, submit!" His voice was a fierce snarl, but his eyes were kind.

Aki looked at Mari "I'm gonna go catch up with Lupus, then will go hunting." He started to pad away.
