Mari smiled sadly. She nuzzled Tala and Summer, and gazed out of the den.
Nike jerked his head up. What was that weird scent? Hurrying out he scanned the den site, and the same strange scent reached his nose. Bristling his hackles, he followed the scent, out of camp, into the forest.
Tala curled up and went to sleep. Gray curled up alone, at the mouth of the den, and stared into the forest.
West launched himself into the dense thickets, after the turkeys, when he noticed a young deer. "Deer!" He barked and charged after it, Aki shook his head, shoved his way through the thorns and shrubs, but by the time he made it to the clearing, west was gone. He could just make him out, over a mile away. "I'm no help now." Aki let out an airy laugh. And sat down and waited for west to realize, that he wasn't following.
