Nebrivo looked at her, confused by her behavior. She didn't seem afraid, or guilty... and why had she pulled up the plant?

She smiled at him. "What's wrong?" she asked.

Instead of answering, Nebrivo turned curtly and began to walk away, his tail flicking back and forth with irritation.

She looked at Quartz. "Do I follow, or...?"

"Well..." Quartz thought for a moment, "If you want to join, yes. But there's been some terrible betrayals recently, no one is going to trust you for a while."
