Lightning tended to Leafe and Izou's wounds by the alpha's den. Smoke brought a rabbit for his mate and pups. Despite their wounds, most of the pack was in high spirits after having driven Darkpack off.

"He never listened to anyone," Nyx said with a sigh. She turned to Lark. "Lark, I don't want to push this onto you, but I...I think...it's time that I step down from the alpha role."
 
Lark looked shocked. "B-but.. what... I... you..." She bit her lip, then dipped her head solemnly. "I understand, Nyx." I signed up for it when I took on the role of beta, she reminded herself silently.
 
Night turned away from the group, shifting a bit. "Do you have a mate?" Thrush asked, as she'd never gotten to know Lark. Nyx glared at her. Then the black she-wolf looked back at the body of her mate, a mixture of confusion and regret on her face.
 
Lark's expression changed to that of an insulted one at Thrush's question.

greenleaf looked at her grief now over powering her "this is why I never wanted to join another pack!"she thought miserably

Blizzard nuzzled her. "How are you? feeling okay? are you hungry? I brought you food." Blizzard had become slightly uptight about it all, being overprotective and worried.
