Chayton whined, pacing away from the den. Elan smiled, concerned. "Hey, brother, something seems wrong. Wanna tell me about it?" he encouraged, giving his a playful paw on the shoulder. Chayton grimaced. "I love Nikki." he blurted, then sighed. "She's the prettiest wolf I've ever seen, and because of that, I can't bring myself to ask her to be my mate! I don't deserve to have her as my mate." he said sadly, groaning. Little did he know, his frustrated voice had drifted to the alpha den.....

Nikki's ears lifted, then drooped again. "Why won't he ask me, then?!" She snapped to herself. "He knows that I love him! I've asked him before, and he didn't answer! Don't I at least deserve an answer?!" Nikki grit her teeth, whining sadly. "Doesn't he care?!" As she hadn't exactly watched the volume of her voice, it drifted right back out.

"Nikki..." Autumn only watched her sister sadly. She didn't really know what to tell her; she'd never gone through this with Elan. She nuzzled her sister affectionately, and Nikki sighed.
Chayton grimaced. "Elan.... I absolutely adore her. She's wonderful.... but I-" he cut himself off, looking angrily at the floor. Elan sidled up to him, putting a large paw on his brother's shoulders. "Ask her, Chayton. You'll be glad you did." he told him in a hushed tone. Chayton nodded. "I will Elan.... I will."
 
Mari twirled her paw in the river, bringing it out covered in thick mud. Her heart sank to the floor. They had left rich, abundant Stonepack for this. Her ears drooped at the thought of what Aki must be feeling.

Aki padded up to her, his fur soaked from the river and reeking of dark pack where he had crossed to their territory and rubbed out their scent. He laid beside her, his heart broken, losing Tala had left him a sort of trance and he wondered why they had left stonepack at all sometimes. But he knew they couldn't go back, Nike would never allow him. And what would happen to Myth and Cloud if they left. Akiaki sighed. "Things could be worse." He Whispered to his mate as he nuzzled her.

Meanwhile.....

"C'mon Summer!" a concerned voice barked. Faolen stood on the ridge of a hill, staring down on the lonerland. His shoulders had broadened, and now he looked like the splitting image of his father, Aki. Summer seemed to drag herself up the hill, panting heavily. "Faolen..... wa- wait...." she gasped, collapsing on the grass. A large male wolf followed behind them, rushing to Summer's side. He whined at her, nuzzling her gently. "Faolen, she can't go on." he said, his voice thick with worry. Faolen's eyes widened, then he nodded. "Yes, get her to that thicket... right there." he pointed with his muzzle. The male wolf did, gently taking Summer and laying her in the shade. Her face was twisted in pain, as her mate looked on. Summer was due to have pups any day now, and today seemed to be the day, but it also appeared that there were complications.
Faolen scrambled up the hill, then down. He ran for an hour or two, until a faint scent reached his nose. Riverpack. Mom, dad! He thought, overjoyed. He pelted towards the faint scent, following it until he crossed the border. "MOM?! DAD!?" He howled frantically, racing full-speed toward the dens.
