Sahara let out a silent whine as a dull pain stretched through her shoulders slowly, and painfully. She felt Rebel's warmth beside her and felt comforted.
Sierra stood at the den entrance, every hair on her body bristled. She searched the forest for both her mate and her brother with sharp ice blue eyes.

Nike slithered down the hill and stopped at a thick shrub. He was very close to the twoleg's prey, and smiled. He could feed his pack for a week with those. He spotted West beside a white den and nodded. He mouthed the word 'now' and leaped forward. He latched his strong jaws around a hanging deer's throat, and slung it into the snow. A twoleg yelled, and ran forward. Nike snarled and lunged at the man.

Rebel watched Sierra, his eyes glancing from her to Sahara. He laid his head over her neck, ignoring the intense pain in his ribs, where he had rebroken them scrambling over rocks and such to get here.

West set his sights on the second two-leg. His snarl echoed in the camp, as he lunged for one man, he yanked his jaws down the arm of the human, but felt a hard smack in his ribs, as the other human kicked him, he skidded across the dirt, his back legs raked the fire and singed his coat and blistered his skin. He leapt away as a metal stone(pot) was thrown at him.

"No......" Faolen coughed hard and blood spattered the snow. "But I'm.... Going to try." He panted and tried to get his weak legs to hold his weight.

Mari moved away and noticed he was hurt. "Oh Gray, you're hurt!" She whined. "Is Aki okay?" She asked, and stared into the forest where Gray had appeared. "Aki?!" She called. Then her heart dropped. "He didn't find you..... Did he?" She asked, her ears back.

Aki smiled slightly at his sons determination. He slowly made for the cave to check it was clear. He stood outside for less than 2 minutes when a gun shot echoed and hit something only yards away. Aki bolted back into the den. He looked at his son. "head for the tree, go straight there, I'll lead them away, and Faolen, don't let your mother come after me." He bolted from the den. One two three gunshots rang out, each one further away than the first. Aki raced deep into the dense forest, then stood in eerie silence.

"No." Gray said, now worried. Before his mother could protest he raced towards their home, following the scent of his father and brother.

Nike's huge figure could be seen directly behind the twoleg who kicked West. Then he was up in the air and latched his jaws on the man's shoulder, dragging him to the ground like a huge elk. He felt a heavy object hit him squarely on the hips and he uttered a yelp of pain. A man stood behind him with a thick branch over Nike's head.

Faolen stumbled on through the forest, his mind too jumbled to be concerned for his father. He could barely remember where his mother was. Finally though, he dragged himself to her feet. Mari nearly fainted from worry. "GRAY!!!!" She screamed, then fell to Faolen's side. 

Gray could just hear his mother's scream, he raced back. "Mom? Faolen!?" He whined.

Sierra trembled and turned back into the den. She paced for a little while, then went back outside. Her heavy breathing could be heard even from the den. 

Nike's huge figure could be seen directly behind the twoleg who kicked West. Then he was up in the air and latched his jaws on the man's shoulder, dragging him to the ground like a huge elk. He felt a heavy object hit him squarely on the hips and he uttered a yelp of pain. A man stood behind him with a thick branch over Nike's head. 

Rebel slowly forced himself to sleep.

West charged at the man holding the stick above Nike, but A gunshot splintered the air, smashing into West's shoulder. He crashed to the ground. He snarled as he fought to his feet, He looked at Nike, then his rageful eyes fell upon the two-leg. He moved to attack, but blur cut across his field of vision, the two-leg smashed to ground.
Aki crashed through the brush, a bullet flew by him, he looked up, and saw(as if in slow motion) the bullet smack into West. He charged forward, a murderous snarl ripping from his throat as he crashed into the man standing over Nike. He fell with the man, killing him. Then then turned, eyeing Nike, unsure of how the alpha would react to him

Vivid images of her mate corned with guns to his head flashed strongly in her mind.

He turned and ran into the trees, dropping his gun. Nike now was in a tussle with the twoleg. The man grabbed Nike's ears and pulled his snapping jaws away from his face. Nike snarled, and lunged, latching his jaws around the man's cheek.

West moved towards Aki. Aki eyed him, his eyes saying 'I dare you!'
West backed down, he turned, attacking the man with the torn arm who tried to crawl away. He fell upon him, biting the back of his neck.
Aki raced into the forest, but didn't get far, he came to the edge of the river, the two-leg must of crossed the raging water, or drowned, he didn't know, or care.
Aki walked back to the camp, despite Nike's aggression, he wanted to make sure they were allright
